on the town: blend

Downtown’s newest wine bar hosted a soft opening last month, allowing guests to sample its extensive selection of wine and small plates. Check out these photos of the newly renovated Blend…

Angelle Bertrand, Kenissa McKay, Melissa Parmelee & Chris Brooks say cheers!

You know those people at tailgates and cocktail parties that avoid eating? The skinny betches with unbending willpower? If they do eat anything, it’s usually a singular carrot or piece of celery from the veggie tray, sans ranch dressing. Sound familiar at all? Unfortunately, I’m not one of them. If you are one of those people, can we please try to transfer your ninja eating skills telepathically?

The reason I bring this up is because there were people like that at this soft opening, and then there were people like me. I spent an embarrassing amount of time around these big, beautiful cheese trays that were out; and I quickly became very attached to the triple cream goats milk brie and mature white cheddar (I’m reading these straight off the menu for you guys). My other favorites of the evening were the butter-poached shrimp and miniature Croque Monsieurs—small sandwiches filled with Gruyere cheese, smoked ham and sauce Mornay. They’re basically fancy ham and cheese sandwiches, and I mean that in the best way possible (grilled cheeses are one of my all-time favorite comfort foods).

I’ve revisited Blend since the soft opening and I’m happy to say that it was just as enjoyable the second time around. I wanted to share these photos in case you are looking for A) A place to get after-work drinks, B) somewhere to bring a date or C) something new and different to do this weekend.

If you visit Blend, please let me know what you think. Cheers! Have a great weekend!
