sister’s wedding, sneak peak

It happened! My sister Caroline is now married and off to Italy with her wonderful new husband for their honeymoon. As guests lined the street with sparklers in City Park to send off the bride and groom, I found myself linking arms with my mother, tears quickly forming in both our eyes. We understood that my sister wasn’t just leaving her wedding reception. She was walking into a new life, one where her most important role is not that of daughter or sister, but wife. This shift necessitates a shift in Caroline’s priorities and decision-making process. What’s best for her and John–her new family–rightly takes precedence over what’s best for our family as a whole. But not to worry, our tears were far more celebratory than sorrowful, for this transition is easy to embrace when your new brother-in-law, or son-in-law in my mother’s case, is so lovable.

I’m really looking forward to sharing an entire collage of wedding photos with you, but it’s been a very long weekend, so for now, I’ll leave you with a sneak peek. See you on Wednesday with a hump day treat!
